Question by freemecandycloud: Does anyone have any good advice on hotels, flights, or inside info if I’m planning a trip to Cusco, Peru?
I’m planning on going to Machu Peachu and other tourist areas but I would like to go to some places that may not be well known. Any advice would be helpful.

Get a good guidebook like Lonely Planet.

You probably won’t “discover” anything new in and around Cusco, as it is one of the world’s premier tourist areas, but one fun thing we did last time was to take a bus to Pisac (a market town not too far from Cusco), then on the way back, got off the bus at Puca Puccara (an archaeological site not far from Cusco) and walked back into the city. No one else was doing that (we were there in July–high season) and we walked into Sacsayhuaman–archaeological area high above Cusco—when it was getting dark for a spectacular view over the City. Then we walked downhill into Cusco, which you will appreciate once you get to Cusco.

There are lots of flights Lima-Cusco every day.

My best advice: when you get there, take it VERY easy, and don’t eat anything all day. The altitude will make you very tired, and if you eat, it can make you sick. So allow an extra day to get used to the altitude.

!Que te pase bien el viaje!
