Question by Pupil: Has anyone been to the North AND South of Peru?
Which did you prefer? Why?

I’m trying to decide whether to Trek North and eventually end up in the Chachapoyas, or trek South along the classic Gringo Trail…

The only reason I want to avoid the Gringo Trail is that it’s high season right now and I both don’t have money to burn and don’t like being in a swarm of tourists.

I am not sure where the gringo trail is. But South Peru brings to my mind the Lake Titicaca/Puno area. Lake Titicaca is very interesting to visit.
