I love Peru! I went with my Dad a couple of years ago. I have not been to the Amazon, so I can’t help with that.

All year is beautiful in Peru, so if you only can go at one time, do it! Also, when you go to Machu Pichu, hire a guide at the front gate. It is worth having a tour of the different locations. You can easily get lost at the site. Bring an offering to the site- some people bring coca plants, but I wish I had brought some flowers. It isn’t something tourists do, but I think it is respectful and it feels right- to leave something there in a place so old and incredible.

As for the best time, I went in September and it was great. It was the off season and prices were great.
