Question by Frank F: What do I need to know about renting a car in mexico and doing a driving vacation from a central location?
We are flying into Guadalajara and want to drive to Zacatecas or Puerto Vallarta, or Aguas Calientes

ABSOLUTELY buy the insurance!!!
You goto jail in Mexico if you get in a wreck and don’t have proof of insurance!!

What you need to know is that you should`nt do it. it probably will get stolen & most places wont rent them. if you rent a car in the u.s. their ins. wont cover you in mexico.& they`ll tell you not to go that you are liable.

You need a credit card, your driver’s license and insurance as was stated before. Your hotel can help you arrange all this. I would suggest the drive into Puerto Vallarta since it is more scenic, passes through desert and tequila territory and after descending 5000 feet ends up in lush jungle and beautiful beaches.
